Nugan Estate is a family-owned winery established over 80 years ago in Griffith, New South Wales. Today the estate is owned and operated by Matthew Nugan, grandson of founders Alfredo and Annelise, who has been integral to the growth of the family business since 1984. Remaining proudly family owned and operated, Nugan Estate continues to honour the founders philosophy of hard work, innovation and commitment to the futurereflected in 44 trophies and over 1,500 medals, including more than 200 gold medals, awarded at wine shows around the world.

Born and raised in Griffith, Australia, Daren Owers joined Nugan Estate in 1996 after completing a Diploma of Applied Science (Food Technology) at the University of Western Sydney. He later studied Wine Science through Charles Sturt University while training as Assistant Winemaker before being appointed Chief Winemaker in 2003. Daren has played a key role in shaping Nugan Estates winemaking style, producing approachable, fruit-driven wines that showcase the quality of the estates vineyards across Australia. He was awarded The Wine Society Members Choice Young Winemaker of the Year early in his career.
